Ghosts are one of the paranormal creatures that I'm late jumping on the bandwagon for, and they're really starting to grow on me. Past Midnight was simply an absolutely adorable read, that is really the only way I could think to describe it. It's another fantastic read from Harlequin Teen.

I love Mara Purnhagen's ghosts in Past Midnight. They weren't full on like ghosts like you are used to, but instead just more like a shadow or a voice or an object moving, so it was more just the energies of people. I thought that was so much more effective and more eerie.

I really liked Charlotte's character. At first I wasn't as crazy about her, thinking she was going to be stereo-typical less favorite child, but she didn't turn out to play that role which was nice. Noah was a super fun character as well, as was Jared. I'm really interested to see what role those 2 play in future books, as with Bliss. I didn't like Bliss at all, but I think she certainly is an interesting character.

I really liked Purnhagen's writing, it just had a really fun quality about it. This book was so light and I just breezed right through it. When I was reading it, it was simply the perfect read for the time.

Past Midnight is a book I really wish I had picked up earlier. I had noticed it, but for some reason didn't pick it up. With it's fresh take on ghosts and fun cast of characters, Past Midnight is just one great read.

Supernaturally was a great read, and while I didn't love it quite as much as I did Paranormalcy, it was still a wicked good read.

I wasn't as crazy about Evie in this book. Some of her decisions bugged me a bit. I continue to adore Lend, he is just such a sweet. I loved how much Arianna developed as a character in Supernaturally. I already loved her as a character, but I found myself liking her even more in this book.

I loved the plot. So many answers were given, and with those were a lot of questions, which was super great. I am so intrigued to see where the story will go in Endlessly. The bigger involvement with the faerie realms in this one was definitely something that intrigued me - I loved learning about them!

Kiersten White's writing is super wonderful - I just love it! Supernaturallly was a fast read, that I simply didn't want to put down. When I had to, I was constantly trying to find a chance to read a few more pages.

I would definitely recommend this one. It was such a fun read, much like Paranormalcy. Evie's choices and attitude led me to not enjoy it quite as much, but it was still a great read.

Myths: Small size, wings, flight, benevolence, wish granting. Also under debate is whether faeries are to be classified as a type of elemental under “spirit.” No current conclusion on whether “spirit” can be classified at all, much less with the same amount of clarity as earth, air, water, and fire.

Facts: Able to manipulate time and space through using the Faerie Paths. Able to create doors to the Faerie Paths anywhere (with the exception of places where too much iron is present [see Appendices: Faeries, Protections Against, 39.982]). Capable of corporeal manipulation of certain elements, sometimes deemed “magic,” though the term is hotly contested. Faeries can also project a type of their glamour onto people, lulling them into stupefaction. Similar to but far more powerful than vampire’s powers of influence. Faeries are nominally divided into two factions, Seelie and Unseelie, but no physical distinctions have been found between the two, and they are considered irrelevant as far as impact on function within IPCA. Dangers: Myriad. Any agent who is to be working with faeries must undergo the four-week safety course. Death, disappearance, loss of limb, loss of key body functions, loss of sanity, etc. are all risks when working with faeries.

This is like my series, and I love it. I love the characters, the enticing plot, and the world and I haven't reread it in ages!

I remember when I got this book, I went through this streak for like a year of rereading it over and over. I now haven't read it for quite awhile, and would love to go back and read it again!

She's an artist who expresses her talent in the wacky colors she dyes her hair, her makeup and clothes. She's working on her biggest art project, and counting the days until she's grown up and can really start living. That adult world seems closer when Vanessa gets her dream job at the art supply store, Palette, where she worships the couple who runs it, Oscar and Maye. And she's drawn to a mysterious guy named James, who leads her into new, sometimes risky situations. Is she ready for this world, or not?

My Not-So-Still Life was an interesting read for me. I don’t really have that huge of an opinion about it, there were some things I liked and some things that I wasn’t as crazy about, with all the pieces falling in at about a perfect center.

I really liked Liz Gallagher’s writing, it was beautiful prose. Some of her descriptions got a bit lengthy though. I felt like so much of the book was Vanessa’s descriptions, which made sense, as she is an artist and I feel would see the world that way.

Not a lot happened in the book. My Not-So-Still Life felt like a lot of stiller moments, interspersed with touching, heartfelt moments. A lot of things weren’t fully explained. Events with Jewel were brought up numerous times, yet I never found out what those meant.

I had an issue connecting with Vanessa. She just wasn’t all that likable of a character to me. She seemed a bit selfish and acted without considering the consequences. That aside, I love Nick and Holly. They both had their oddities about them, and they were both super fun characters.

The cover is a lot of fun – I love all the colors between her eye makeup and hair. In the end, I really was fairly indifferent about this book. I wouldn’t be jumping up and down saying to go get it, but I definitely wouldn’t say I disliked it. I would recommend picking up a copy of this one from the library or something like that.

I always feel a little sideways talking about books I love, because there are so many, and for each one, my adoration is directly tied to who I was when I read it. I’m a “Woman of a Certain Age,” so my youthful reading is different than my children’s, or kids in today’s fourth grade. Still, I think some of them stand the test of time. There are the obvious books, like Charlotte’s Web, Old Yeller, and the entire Little House collection, but I also had an insane love of horse books. Any and all: The Black Stallion series, Black Beauty, My Friend Flicka. I also loved biographies, and gobbled up Queen Victoria, Florence Nightingale, and Martha Washington.

At ten, on the edge of adolescence, I read Jane Eyre, and my love of romances began. I discovered Victoria Holt, and read every one of her books. I read and loved Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca and My Cousin Rachel. Then I found Mrs. Mike and Christy, both so lovely and charming in their own, unique way. There weren’t so many books written for young adults then, but I managed to find those that were: Seventeenth Summer and My Darling, My Hamburger. I just now went and looked at Goodreads for these books and it was interesting to read current day views on the reads. Seventeenth Summer was old when I read it, back in the day, and I remember being frustrated with the social strictures, but something about that book sang to me. First love, first kiss, first ‘real’ relationship. I was in love with falling in love. All these years later, I still am.

When I was a freshman in high school, I stumbled across a Kathleen Woodiwiss historical romance that was whoa, sexy times. Being a wide-eyed, naïve type, I was completely shocked. And spent lots of babysitting money to buy more. I carefully hid these from my mother, and read in the closet with a flashlight, late at night. It’s not that Mom would have minded the sexy times, but she was always a lit snob. I should have been reading Tolstoy or Kafka. Later, I discovered the classics, because my high school English teacher, Mrs. Thrush, kind of insisted, and I loved Dickens and Thackery, but hated Joyce and Dostoevsky.

Now, in my middle years, I don’t feel as shy about what I read. I unapologetically read romance novels because I’m always looking for That One, filled with witty banter, beautiful prose, or just crazy-page-turning-I-can’t-read-fast-enough entertainment, which will take me to another time and place, and I can fall in love all over again. One of my favorite historical romances is Loretta Chase’s Lord of Scoundrels. It’s my go-to book for those who dis romance, but have never read it, or who read Danielle Steele or Nicholas Sparks and call it romance. This sends romance writers off the page.

I gravitate toward romances in young adult fiction, and have become addicted to Simone Elkeles’s Perfect Chemistry series. Not so romancey, but I adore Heather Brewer’s Vlad Tod books. I confess to being a sheep and reading what everyone else is reading, but there are way worse things to be than a sheep – and when the books are as awesomesauce as The Hunger Games and Anna and the French Kiss, all I can do is bleet and sigh and wonder, how did they do that? I’m in awe. And so grateful to live in a world with books, with an education that allows me to read them. My entire life, books have been my tireless companions, always there for me.

And as the political implications of the Shifters coming out are beginning to be felt, Sookie's connection to the Shreveport pack draws her into the debate. Worst of all, though the door to Faery has been closed, there are still some Fae on the human side-and one of them is angry at Sookie. Very, very angry...

Dead in the Family was definitely not what I was expecting, but was still a very good read. The summary was very misleading I thought, because a lot of what it said was going to happen I didn't see really come through. So the entire book was a big surprise, with me just wondering what would come next.

The plot in Dead in the Family wasn't quite as exciting as it was in the prior book, but it was stilll quite action packed and in this book, a lot of its charm came from the moments that had a lack of action.

The characters are wonderful, as always. Some of the new characters and developments have me quite interested as to what their role will be in future books. I thought Jason really came into his own and grew up a bit in this one, something he's been doing in baby steps along the way of the series.
I am super excited to read the next book! I love that the plot just keeps thickening and thickening, between all the politics with all the Supes and what not. This series is super fabulous.

What’s your drink of choice? Is it a small pumpkin spice latte? Then you’re lots of fun and a bit sassy. Or a medium americano? You prefer simplicity in life. Or perhaps it’s a small decaf soy sugar-free hazelnut caffe latte? Some might call you a yuppie. Seventeen-year-old barista Jane Turner has this theory that you can tell a lot about a person by their regular coffee drink. She scribbles it all down in a notebook and calls it Espressology. So it’s not a totally crazy idea when Jane starts hooking up some of her friends based on their coffee orders. Like her best friend, Em, a medium hot chocolate, and Cam, a toffee nut latte. But when her boss, Derek, gets wind of Jane’s Espressology, he makes it an in-store holiday promotion, promising customers their perfect matches for the price of their favorite coffee. Things are going better than Derek could ever have hoped, so why is Jane so freaked out? Does it have anything to do with Em dating Cam? She’s the one who set them up! She should be happy for them, right?

The Espressologist was a super cute read! The pages flew by at a crazy fast speed, and all too soon the book was finished and I was left wanting more from this fantastic plot Springer had spun.

The plot was adorable. I loved the whole idea of matching people by the drinks they order - it's so unique and I would really love to see if it would actually work out ever!

I really loved the characters in The Espressologist. I thought they were all super easy to connect with and a lot of fun. I thought Derek was absolutely hilarious, with all his different moods he would be in. I did have a little more of an issue connecting with Em, Jane's best friend but she was still a ton of fun.

The ending was about the most adorable thing in the world! This was a great book, that I would absolutely recommend! This is my first book from Kristina Springer but after this one, I definitely want to check out her other book now!

While on a voyage to America, where she plans to escape and start a new life, she meets Alec, who's ruggedly handsome, fabulously wealthy, intelligent and yet so clearly troubled that she'd rather not fall for him, but she does. That also is not her biggest problem. Alec, it turns out, is a werewolf ... one cursed to change every night, unless and until he surrenders his independence and joins the Brotherhood, a pack of violently misogynistic werewolves who have been tracking him for months. You'd think that would be their biggest problem, wouldn't you?


But no. Their biggest problem -- though they don't know it yet -- is that they're aboard the RMS Titanic.

I had been extremely excited for Fateful since I heard of it, as I am a huge fan of Claudia Gray's Evernight series. The premise just sounded so cool, so I was excited. Fateful was everything I had hoped it would be, and more.

Fateful definitely had a slower start and I was having trouble getting into the story. It felt awkward like I had just been thrown into this new time period and this story. This only lasted a little while, then everything clicked into place and I was in love with Tess's world and didn't want to leave.

The plot was so much fun. I loved the originality of the werewolves in Fateful, I love when paranormals these days have that unique twist. The story was so much fun, and I loved following  Tess and Alec's adventures to see what it would lead to next.

The characters in Fateful were all quite marvelous. I loved Tess - she was a super strong female main character, and just was awesome! Irene was a character would I really admired her strength as well. I definitely would have originally cast her off as the weak rich girl, but she was so much more than that with many layers, and see what she would do was always super fun. Alec, oh Alec, he definitely is a super swoonworthy guy.

I am absolutely in love with Fateful's cover, it is absolutely gorgeous! Fateful is a book that captivated me in every way, from it's world and time setting, the characters, and the plot. It was definitely my favorite of Claudia Gray's works thus far!

This one sounds pure awesome - books at academies/boarding schools are some of my absolute favorites. They always tell these brilliant stories, and this one sounds like it'll be amazing.

Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

This book looks SO WICKED AWESOME. Yet for some reason  I didn't read it. I preordered this one, and still haven't gotten to it. I think I will add it to my Christmas break reading list this year (since I don't have it with me at school!)

Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin

This is one of those books I've been hearing about for ages, and thought it looked good. Then the movie came out, and I was dying to see the movie, but I didn't go because I hadn't read the book. I really need to move it up my TBR pile soon!


Heist Society by Ally Carter

I am in LOVE with Ally Carter's Gallagher Girls series, and I preordered this one and all that, but for some reason I still haven't read it.

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

This is another one of those series where everyone is talking about it and buzzing about it. I think it sounds good, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I think I now will just wait til Beautiful Chaos is out so I have all 3 books at once.

The Catcher and the Rye by JD Salinger

I hear tons of people talk about this one and I've heard people tell of how this changed their lives, so I figure I should give it a go.

But there's a far greater danger threatening Bon Temps. A race of unhuman beings-older, more powerful, and more secretive than vampires or werewolves-is preparing for war. And Sookie finds herself an all-too human pawn in their battle.

After the bumping middle this series had, I would never guess that now! I think Dead and Gone was my favorite book in the series yet. With it action packed plot and lovely characters, this one will be one that will keep you on the edge of  your seat and you won't be able to put it down!

One thing that I absolutely love about this series is the paranormal diversity in it. It's not just vampires or anything. There's witches, fairies, werewolves, shapeshifters, you name it and this series has it. I thought this diversity was particularly evident in this book, which was super fun to read about.

The action in this one was absolutely no stop. I read straight through this book in less than 3 hours - it was so good and I just couldn't put it down. Charlaine Harris really throws a few loops in there with some things I would never ever have guessed with different characters.

This is a must read! This was hands down the best book in the series yet, and I am extremely excited to start the next book!

In the ensuing battles, Sookie faces danger, death, and once more, betrayal by someone she loves. And when the fur has finished flying and the cold blood finished flowing, her world will be forever altered.

WooHoo, this series is finally going back on the upswing after the let down I thought the past 2 books were! I am so excited to see where everything is going to go now, between the new characters that popped up and the events that have come to pass.

At the end of the book, readers hear briefly from Hadley's ex-husband Remy and his family, I really liked all of them as characters and I really hope that they make more appearances in future books as they were all lovely!

I am super curious to see how the whole new Vampire group will play in to the series. From Dead to Worse was perfectly balanced between Vamp and Were action in my opinion - the books in the series that have some of both end up being my favorites, because I love characters that are both.

I super love this series, and I recommend it to all. I can't wait to see where the series goes, especially after the super huge cliffhanger-esque ending Harris ended with!

Sweet Venom was a book I was highly anticipating – Greek mythology is one of my favorite topics, so a modern tale with elements of mythology had me super excited.  With its original spin on mythology and its epic plot, Sweet Venom is another amazing book from Tera Lynn Childs.

The three sisters idea was so unique, and Tera Lynn Childs tells Sweet Venom’s tale through alternating points of views between the three sisters. I found myself definitely favoring Grace’s point of view best, I think she is my favorite of the three sisters. She was definitely the most likable!

The characters in Sweet Venom were a lot of fun – particularly Nick and Thane. I thought those 2 were just complete riots, and I absolutely loved scenes they were in.

The twist Tera Lynn Childs put on mythology was absolutely fascinating, and that in itself had me locked into the book, not even taking into account the plot and other happenings. I loved learning about the girls and their destiny, but also the world and the rules that went along with it.

I am so excited for book 2 after this one! The way the book ended has me super excited to see where the story will go. That aside, I really would have liked a little more closure with this book – I feel like there was a lot of questions, but not as many answers as I would have liked.

Sweet Venom was a brilliant read.  I was simply engulfed in Gretchen, Grace, and Greer’s world and read straight through the book. It was simply another wonderful read, and I would recommend it to all.

I just love these books covers, they are so pretty. Anyways, but Book 3 in the Riley Bloom series is out now, and while I haven't read this series yet, it's one I'm really looking forward to! I am super excited to share the trailer with you guys!

And after being betrayed by her longtime vampire love, Sookie must not only deal with a new man in her life-the shapeshifter Quinn-but also contend with the long-planned vampire summit.

The summit is a tense situation. The vampire queen of Louisiana is in a precarious position, her power base weakened by hurricane damage to New Orleans. And there are some vamps who would like to finish what nature started. Soon, Sookie must decide what side she'll stand with. And her choice may mean the difference between survival and all-out catastrophe.

I enjoyed this one more than I had book 6, but it still did not live up to my love for the first 5 books. Regardless of that, this still is a really great series I would recommend.

While I don't think this was the best book in the series, there was definitely some interesting points in it. I am super curious to see how some of those new plot threads will play out in future books, if my suspicions are correct, I have a feeling Harris was revealing some things that may or may not be huge in future books. The end of the book in this one was huge.

I am still holding up big signs for Sookie that say DITCH QUINN ASAP. But she didn't see to see them, oh well. I enjoyed seeing Barry the Bellboy again in this book - he's a bit of an odd duck, but he's always fun. Eric always cracks me up, and him having to fill in for a priest in this book most definitely sent me over the edge. I could not stop laughing.

I found this book a lot more predictable than prior books. I totally pegged the bad guy chapters before we found out who, and in previous books I usually didn't end up doing that. Occasionally I'd have my suspicions, but I felt in this one there were big, flashing signs.

All Together Dead definitely left me with high hopes for From Dead to Worse, I am thinking what I was calling the middle of the series slump will come to the end and jump back into the loveliness that was the first 5 books. This series is really great.

I had no interest in reading this book, but Heidi and Gail told me of it's awesomeness. While I didn't love The Hunger Games, I adored Catching Fire!

The Forest of Hands and Teeth, The Dead-Tossed Waves, and The Dark and Hollow Places by Carrie Ryan

I had no desire to read these books, I saw they were about zombies and was like What is that? Why would I want to read that?  Finally, after hearing about them constantly from about everyone and their mother, I decided to give them a try. Right away I was absolutely addicted and found a new favorite author!

Sean Griswold's Head by Lindsey Leavitt

I was excited for this one, but all the buzz from other bloggers made me so much more excited to read this!

The Maze Runner by James Dashner

I was very hesitant about this one, I am very hit or miss on dystopians usually. I heard so much buzz about this one, and I was going to meet James Dashner in the near future, so I gave it a go and loved it!


The Morganville Vampire Series by Rachel Caine

Again, I was super hesitant to pick this series up. I was like vampires, they've been so overdone, and ignored these books. Finally, curiosity got to me after seeing them everywhere, and I found one of my favorite series!

What is your favorite book you've read lately?

- I have to say The Understorey by Fisher Amelie. Because the characters are award winning flirts! I loved the romantic and witty lines in that book. It's a old fashioned type of romance.

What is your favorite genre to read?

- Anything YA paranormal/fantasy.

What has been your favorite thing about blogging?

- Probably the access to review copies of books. Aside from that, I love the book blogging community. So helpful. So friendly.

Favorite cover of the year thus far?

- Oh this is difficult one. I like pink book covers, so I would say Iron Queen.

Who is your favorite author?

- Victor Hugo. I've had that Les Miserables phase when I was younger. Obsessed with the book and the musical. As to YA authors, my favorite is Julie Kagawa.

If you could go back in time to any period, where would you go?

- I don't want to go back in time! I like the convenience modernity brings.


If you could have one super power, what would it be?

Mind control.
